" ...exquisite singing that's so honest it hurts a bit!" Peter McCracken, Centrum, Port Townsend

We are pleased to welcome back Margo, John & Ruthie for an afternoon of heartfelt country harmony, masterful guitar and fierce fiddlin'. Lying at the core of Margo and John's music is warm-hearted honesty and emotion. Their seamless vocal blend and tasteful acoustic guitar bring tenderness to every song — vintage country or a re-invented pop song alike. Released in 2018, John and Margo's first recording collaboration,The Sea and the Sky, received airplay significant enough to chart on the FOLKDJ list, which is noteworthy for a first album.

Besides her love of early country music, Margo Murphy is also known for her conversational interpretation of jazz standards and was lead singer of the 6-piece Swing band, Metro Luna. Raised near Puget Sound, her work life has covered the gamut from organic farming in the Snoqualmie Valley, to making a living as a musician, to helping run clinical trials at the UW.

John Roberts, a longtime member of the Bellingham-based band the Nooksack Valley Boys, worked as a commercial fisherman since the day he left college in his 20's to follow the Bellingham fleet to Alaska. He and his wife grow the gorgeous hanging baskets that line Bellingham and Ferndale streets each summer and only occasionally now does he chase salmon, leaving more time to pursue his passion for making music.

Ruthie Dornfeld's smooth and lively playing perfectly complement Margo and John's approach and love for the music. An acclaimed fiddler and teacher steeped in traditional styles, Ruthie's big tone, fierce rhythm and fluid style have won her popularity among dancers and concert audiences alike, from the Manhaus Opera House in the Brazilian Amazon to the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. "Dornfeld is a revelation, an endlessly inventive player with remarkable fluidity." Chris Nickson, fRoots Magazine
